Contemporary Digital Art rendition of #607 "Dolly" [named after the pilot Captain JJ Grant's daughter]. This P-51D Mustang, 506th Fighter Group, Iwo Jima, flew with the 462nd Fighter Squadron to the mainland of Japan and back in 1945. Here depicted protecting B-29's as enemy fighters have been spotted and drop tanks have been jettisoned to begin engagement.
